xWind: Streamline Your Wind Energy Calculations

xWind by Jan Bloemendaal is a powerful software tool designed for efficient wind energy analysis and project management, offering robust features but requiring a steeper learning curve for new users.
xWind is a user-friendly tool designed specifically for pilots to assess wind conditions in relation to headwinds, crosswinds, and tailwinds restrictions.
With the xWind app, all essential information is conveniently displayed on a single screen, minimizing the need for user interaction during critical flight phases. The displayed information includes:
- Current wind direction and speed
- Runway course
- Crosswind and headwind/tailwind components
- Applied wind limits
- 'Forbidden' wind angles based on current wind speed
- Maximum wind speed table based on current wind limits
The xWind app allows for easy adjustments of reference wind, runway course, and wind limits directly on the main screen by simply dragging the wind arrow, course rose, or wind limit lines.
By tapping the settings button at the bottom, users can access a popup screen where they can specify their preferred units for wind speed (Kts or Mps) and set default values for wind limits.
In addition to selecting general wind speed units, users can also choose alternate units specifically for the current wind, wind components, and maximum winds table by double-tapping the wind display at the top of the main screen. This feature is particularly useful when transitioning between countries that use different units of measurement. It enables users to set the current wind in one unit and view the maximum allowed winds in another unit, while ensuring that the limits are maintained in the original unit of measurement.
xWind also supports iOS dark mode, providing a visually comfortable experience in low-light environments.
